Organismic Awareness

I was just reading Shyloh's Blog "We ourselves are muppets". It reminded me of the quote below from Ken Wilber. To me it's about the here and now, with nothing in between the experience and self. The real red pill, so let's take it and enjoy the ride.
"Organismic awareness is what we - on the Ego Level - ordinarily, but clumsily, refer to as seeing, touching, tasting, smelling and hearing. But in its very purest form, this "sensual awareness" is non-symbolic, non-conceptual, momentary consciousness. Organismic awareness is awareness of the Present only you can't taste the past, smell the past, see the past, touch the past, or hear the past. Neither can you taste, smell, see, touch or hear the future. In other words, organismic consciousness is properly timeless, and being timeless, it is essentially spaceless. Just as organismic awareness knows no past or future, it knows no inside or outside, no self or other. Thus pure organismic consciousness participates fully in the non-dual awareness called Absolute Subjectivity."

Hey David,
Your post reminds me of the Buddhist Heart Sutra, which is also a tool of my practice. It talks about the five senses and how they are illusory. It is a profound teaching, so I can’t really explain all of it here, but let me say this: in Chinese the five sense are also called the five thieves. They are said to rob us of our clarity and wisdom. We follow our senses and they lead us into attachment and confusion. For example, we see something beautiful and want to have it, we taste good food and eat too much, etc. But, if we cultivate our awareness and wisdom we can turn the five thieves into five friends; we can use them as tools in this world, which is what your blog seems to speak of, at least to me. In connection with Shyloh’s post, when we are really ourselves and not just being driven by something else (like the muppets) then we can use our senses to better understand and interact with the world in the present.
Excellent quote. A perfect reminder to pay attention to the body.
Cool stuff! I love it.
I said, “I love orgasms.” I also love organisms.
Man did I say how much I loved this blog? Yes I did, hmm ok just checking…..
The part about ‘Absolute Subjectivity’ reminded me of the concept of The Headless Way
Go on, lose your head! :D
EVERYTHING IS ILLUSION…
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maya_(illusion)
What we perceive to be true, is our consiousness (ego) trying to organize reality in a linear way. This helps us catagorize things “logically” . But the truth is that this Universe (or Cosmos) is all mind.
